“Mood Board Challenge!”

If you don’t know what a mood board is I would describe it as a collection of ideas to get inspiration fromย  ๐Ÿ™‚ This is the one Chloe used for our scrap challenge at Scrapbook Savvy this weekend. You take the bits that inspire you and create ๐Ÿ™‚

moodI used the sun burst effect of the clock, feathers, blue and the zig zag pattern to create this layout of Trishka ๐Ÿ™‚

013I masked the background, cut the zig zag with a punch, embossed the photo mat with my Ebosser and stamped and fussy cut the feathers and the title.

Hop on over and join in you have till Thursday to upload to the gallery at ๐Ÿ™‚ http://www.scrapbooksavvy.com.au/blog/

“I Love These Days!”

I used this title for my layout of a beautiful Autumn Day here in May. I was outside at Mercy with mum and dad enjoying the sun and I took a couple of pics of the gorgeous tree there and the sun shining through it. I love Autumn; cool nights and warmish days and this year was very mild in the South East of Victoria, Australia.

003I decided to use this photo for a Recipe Challenge at Home and Scrapped and I had to use a list of ingredients Heather posted in the group on my layout.

Here is the recipe:

1 photo -(my dimensional photo)

4 small pieces of paper – (banner at the top)

1 piece of journaling paper/card – (quote on the right)

2 strips of paper/washi/ribbon – (Date on the bottom left)

a thimble full of glimmer mist/glitter/ink or paint -(Paint and ink)

a sprinkle of punched shapes – (Leaves falling down page)

a dash of bling – (Silver Painted Leaves on background)

1 medium-sized embellishment group – (Leaves on bottom right of photo)

1 title in two sizes of lettering – (Left hand side)

Method

Well now… all cooks have their own way of doing things, but you will need a good sheet of card stock as a base before you begin, then just let it all come together with a bit of a whisk and gentle stirring. Roll out carefully, allow to stand for a day or a month, whichever suits you best, bake until crisp and serve hot in the correct album for all to share ๐Ÿ™‚

008ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Bit of a close up of my leaves, creating my embellishment group ๐Ÿ™‚

I am very pleased with my layout and managing to sneak this one in by the end of the month ๐Ÿ™‚

“June Journal Challenge!”

It is nearly the end of June already and I am just sneaking this challenge in. ย  I felt like having a scrap yesterday, with the day off work and my night shift now tonite ๐Ÿ™‚ย  I started off creating my layout for Heather’s Recipe challenge, but as I was putting it together I realised it said one photo and I had 4.ย  So this double 8.5 x 11 size layout about my 50th is now the Journal challenge. My sister came up a couple of days early to see mum and dad and she brought me presents and cake!! I still have a few more photos of the day to scrap also.

010I really had fun getting 8 photos on this and I had fun creating the full length banner with lots of bits and pieces from my stash!ย  I masked a bit of the background and grounded the photos with the tags on the ends. The journaling is hidden behind the photo so it can be taken out and read.

We had to use these two sentences as prompts for our journaling on our page…..

“Every time I think of you…… I know I am blessed to have you in my life”ย  &ย ย ย ย  “Your smile is the one thing that makes me know I am your mum”

Thanks Heather for this fun challenge, and getting me to do some important journaling to tell the story ๐Ÿ™‚

“Step By Step!”

Last week, the girls started a Step By Step challenge over on the Home & Scrapped FB page!ย  I have created this page with Heather’s daily steps, in-between work and my weekend at Ballarat!

There was some nice steps worked out to create the page and all the girls came up with some lovely pages. I also had the challenge of altering the instructions to my smaller size layout!

003-007I started mine with some masking with texture paste and ink on the sides. Made some layers with some stamping, die cut borders using my Ebosser and all the papers are scraps under the photos. I then added some more layers and texture with some embellishments and washi tape paper.

004-005I used some stickers for the title, made a couple of pinwheels, added a few buttons and a star veneer.

Hop on over and join our fun group and have a go at this months great Challenges!

“E bossing!”

Hi everyone,

I am heading off to my sisters for the weekend to cold old Ballarat!! Well it is Winter here in Australia now ๐Ÿ™‚ย  It is my weekend off, as I do split shifts over 11 days, then get a nice break ๐Ÿ™‚ย  It will be nice to catch up with my family and have a mini break ๐Ÿ™‚

So before I go I wanted to get my borders and bits cut on my Ebosser for the Step By Step challenge over @ Home and Scrapped. We are now over on FB as the Ning forum is getting to expensive and social media is the way to go now.

My hands are a bit sore this morning, so this machine is fantastic as I don’t have to crank the handle on my Big Shot which is hard on my hands.

002-004I used some of my thinner Sizzlet dies and my Tim Holtz Alteration dies which I love!ย  With using the correct sandwich for the machine it cuts wonderfully. The best things about this machine also is if you use the wrong sandwich the machine knows and wont let it go through, so you can’t damage it!

Hop on over, join our group and have a play too!ย  We are a friendly bunch and love new members!! Hope you have a great weekend, cause I sure am ๐Ÿ™‚

“Everything In It’s Place!”

Once you start scrap booking your supplies quickly grow and your storage needs change.ย  Storage can be pricey but my options are always budget friendly or D I Y.

I am a bit of a storage nut and I like to have things that work for me in my scrap space. I am trying to get as many as my scrap supplies out so I can see and use them. I use storage that prob is meant for your pantry, but as a scrap booker you would know we can make anything work lol!

Jars are a great idea and I have a few smaller ones with brads, clips, etc in them, but needed something bigger to get more stash out so I can use it.

These are a great size to sit along my desk and I can see what I have and get it on to pages.

002-003I purchased 5 to start with, but you could re-use large coffee jars etc.ย  As I don’t drink much coffee my solution was the cheap shop. I wasn’t sure how many would go along my desk space, but I can prob get another 4 on. The first one has all my small punches that get lost in the box, one so all my buttons are together, the next one is lace as I forgot some of the lovely ones I have, some washi tape nice and handy and white flowers which I love as I can colour them to suit my projects. I try to buy them all the same as they seem to look nicer, but that doesn’t matter as long as they do the job.

005-005ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  This is just a bit of a close up so you get the idea ๐Ÿ™‚ My shoe boxes are great and I have them sorted by colour but I still have to pull stuff out, rummage through them and waste time. You don’t have to label the jars as you can see them ๐Ÿ™‚

008I think these would be great in the pantry for sugar, flour etc, but these huge ones which sit on top of my book-case, hold my roller stamps, foam stamps, larger supplies etc. I think these need a bit of a cull and tidy up too.

glitterI found this on Pinterest and I love this idea for storing glitter and making it easier to use without the mess.

enhanced-buzz-15311-1341944483-1This is another cool idea I found there too. These are Mason Jars hot glued together.

Another bonus is they look good too. A girl needs a bit of pretty!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope I have given you a few ideas for your space?

“Pinterest Inspired!”

I was wasting time on Pinterest the other day as I do and found a cool technique to pretty up Mason Jars which have me intrigued with all the different uses for them.

This was a coffee jar I think, anyway I thought I would give it ago. I thought I would put ribbons in it, but changed my mind! I was itching to have a play so this is what it came out like.

001-003I used three plastic cups and put some coloured paint in them with a bit of water so it would drip. I did this on the inside, then when it dried on the outside and it gives a pretty cool drip effect ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s ideal storage for my larger brushes and sits on my art bench ๐Ÿ™‚

Pinterest is awesome so pop on over, search something you are interested in and look at all the ideas that will come up ๐Ÿ™‚ You can make your own boards and pin things you like to them. It is very addictive lol!!

“A Tidy Up!”

While I was getting my art bench done last night, I decided on a few storage changes in my scrap space too. Just to make finding things a bit better ๐Ÿ™‚ย  I re-arranged a few things on my Colcraft unit and it gave me some more space to put some punches and a few other bits and bobs that I use alot. For me ‘if I cant see it, it usually doesn’t get used’ so I like having as much out in clear boxes and on shelves as possible. Next to my Ebosser table I have another desk and a wall unit on itย  which has baskets of embellies, albums, stamps, my ribbon holder, and my big glass jars on top which hold my Rollagraph wheel stamps and foam stamps.

020I took this photo from the lounge room door and you can see I have everything pretty good now. My pp and cs just there on the left now on my white desk. in the drawer I keep my moulds and clay, and underneath is a box off scrap kits and a hat box with material and bits in it.

023My desk with a nice amount of space now to play, and my large Colcraft unit all re organised.ย  I have my smaller paper unit under my desk with cs in it and the drawers I use for extra adhesive tools etc.ย  I am re-purposing my small PL unit there on the right for my tools, my Spotlight bargain embellishment and die holders on the wall and my Ebosser all set up ๐Ÿ™‚

By removing all my inks and arty stuff to my bench it has given me a lot more room to create and yes probably make a mess! But that is the fun of this great hobby!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I think I am finally nicely set up and inspired now to do some creating and get stuck into using my stash!

How do you have your scrap spaces/rooms set up, I would love to know ๐Ÿ™‚

“My Art Space!”

I had a bit of a mess on my desk today after scrapping during the week and thought I had better clean it up! I think I had a ‘light bulb’ moment and thought I would make better use of my ‘bargain’ change table I found a few months ago. I had also been looking for ideas on Pinterest too to make better use of it ๐Ÿ™‚

005-004I took the front rail of it so it now looks like a bench, and its easy to access. As I always make such a mess with my sprays and inks etc and it ends up everywhere I thought it would be great to have one place to make a mess. It is great also, as I tend to stand when I am stamping etc, and it is at my height!

004-004As you can see, I have contained my mists, stains, inks etc together so they are easy to see and I have the paper towel, baby wipes etc in reach.

009On the top I have put my mat and non stick craft sheet down, with a jug with all my brushes etc in it and a tin with my gesso, paints, water brushes, gel medium etc which I use quite a lot. I took me a couple of hours to get this all sorted, but I am really glad I did. As a bonus, through sorting some stuff out I found some pp and cs I had forgotten about!

Now, I will have heaps of fun making a mess when I am scrapping ๐Ÿ™‚

“Puzzle Challenge!”

Kerryn’s Puzzle Challenge was a good one, and I am glad I gave it ago ๐Ÿ™‚

SavvyPuzzleCCChallengeMay2014_zps18279111

These are the things we had to include on our layout, but you could use more than one.

I found this photo of mum and dad I took a few months ago of them and thought it was a lovely one to use. They have now been married for 41 years, dad has just turned 99 and mum has Dementia, but we are very lucky she hasn’t deteriorated too much!

003-006I used the chevron in the background paper, the diamond in the paper under the photo, I stamped some hearts and used a charm, I put the star on the right with a couple of butterflies, the circle is a button on the center of the grunge board flower I cut out with my Ebosser, and the splats are some dylusions ink.

Hop on over and have a go at the CC challenges, you have until Thursday ๐Ÿ™‚
