“Paperific 2014!”

I managed to have yesterday off work and my bestie and I left Colac early to go to Paperific in Melbourne. I love craft shows and this one is a good one. We had a great day going around all the different stalls andย  finding some bargains. I wasn’t really after anything in particular, but I managed to find a few different masks, a few emboss folders and a set of Feather dies to use in my Ebosser, and a stamp ๐Ÿ™‚

I did miss seeing Karen Shady as she was doing her Scrapbook class, but caught up with Stacey Apps. It was so busy and the ques were pretty long. We think the Saturday will be the better day to go next year.

IMG_20140830_104425-001My fave item I think might be the Spellbinders Feather dies, but was nice to find some differentย  Memory Box, Crafter’s Workshop, a Tim Holtz, and Prima stencils ๐Ÿ™‚ I think Mary did way more damaged to her CC than me but it was lots of fun ๐Ÿ™‚

Want to also thanks the lovely Cheryl O’Brien who sent me free tickets to the show and saved us the entry fee. Mwah xxx

Guess what I will be doingย  tmorrow?

Testing out my new goodies ๐Ÿ™‚

“August Scrap The Boys!”

As you know I do alot of ‘boy themed’ layouts and I love the fun challenges that http://www.scraptheboys.blogspot.com.au/ have each month to give me inspiration.

This month is to ‘PROFILE’ your boy and what they are into.ย  As having two, I couldn’t decide whether to a photo of Cj or Jj, so I decided to use a photo of them that I sneaked when they didn’t know. They were walking over to the Gym one day and I couldn’t resist ๐Ÿ™‚

003The first background I masked washed the photo out so I used some darker paper and it was much better. Instead of wasting the other card stock I mounted the paper on to it so it is more stable.ย  I printed the pic about 4×4 and added a few different layers of paper and some PL cards. I used the one on the left to journal about what they are both up to now at 17 and 22.ย  Even though Cj isn’t living at home they still catch up and spend time together ๐Ÿ™‚

Cant wait to see what September’s Challenge mite b ๐Ÿ™‚

“Mood Board Challenge!”

Home from work this morning and my clean scrap desk was calling me!ย  I wanted to scrap a pic of JJ and I back in 2007 as it makes me happy ๐Ÿ™‚ JJ and I went for a train ride, filled in some time at the park which was his favourite place and then home again!

I used this lovely mood board to create my layout using some of the colours and the pin wheels!ย  You can check it out at http://www.rainbowsplendour.blogspot.com.au

003I misted the background with orange and blue Dylusions, add a few layers with some PL cards and tags and made a few pinwheels to make it feel Summery.

Thanks Chloe and girls for the inspiration ๐Ÿ™‚

“Using PL Cards in Traditional Scrapping!”

Even though I am not really into PL at the moment, I love using their cards as backgrounds and journalling cards. They have a great range of colours and quotes on them and they are really handy for me to get things in sync on my layout ๐Ÿ™‚

011For this ‘Selfie’ challenge I used a sheet of paper from a Amy Tangerine PL journal and added it to some other pp, some transparency I stamped on and my misted background ๐Ÿ™‚

002This layout was for Mystical Scrapbooks for a challenge to use bling and chipboard. The PL cards are on the back under the photo and as my journaling card, which I used as the title.ย  The frame is from a WRMK PL pack.ย  I water coloured the stamped flowers with Distress Inks on the tag. You will also notice a few other layouts I have added over the last week has PL cards sneaked in also ๐Ÿ™‚

“Some Scrap Time”

Happy Wednesday,

I have today off, so I thought I would catch up on my blogging ๐Ÿ™‚

Like all of you I struggle to get a good amount of free time during the week to scrap. I have sort of got a system where my desk is always messy with a project I am working on and I can go back to it as I can in between housework, my paid job and everything else. ๐Ÿ™‚ย ย  I do clean it up after I have finished a project as that way I start fresh and don’t have too much clutter around me a t a time ๐Ÿ™‚ As work split shifts and nights this seems to work for me:)

I have been joining in with a Cyber Crop on Face Book with D-Lish Scraps since the weekend and I have completed 3 of 4 fantastic challenges. ๐Ÿ™‚

001This first layout of Jayden was a challenge to use stamping on my page. As you know I am a stamp-a-holic and have heaps to use ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  I used the end of aย  toilet roll dipped in paint to do the background on the white card stock, then used a few Autumn Leaves stamps to do the circular journal bits. Some misted tags, a few pp layered and the arrows was a piece from a swap that I joined in. I have hidden the journaling behind the photo for him to read as I didn’t feel it needed to be seen by everyone .

014This fun layout of our kitty Trishka. was a challenge to use all one colour in different shades on my page. It is called Monochromatic colours. I stamped the paws on the background with distress ink, added some pp, washi tape, a bit of texture with some netting and a bit of embellishment. I don’t scrap alot of girl stuff so this was an opportunity to do a girly layout.

004I am very sentimental, and I have had this stamp set of my Grandfather’s, William ‘Poppy’ Smith for quite awhile. I treasure it and this challenge was perfect for me to record this part of our Smith family history. My Poppy,ย  dad and his brother used to work together on a fishing trawler and this was something I dint know for quite awhile, till mum was ready to talk about dad. He used the set this for his business. This was when they were younger and before my dad passed away he was a truck driver.

I wanted this layout to have an ‘old heritage’ feel to it so I created the background with some left over Thicker alphabet stickers, gessoed it and sprayed it with Dylusions ink. I then added some crumpled and ink papers, a couple of Tim Holtz tickets and a buckle, a couple of skeleton leaves and a smidgen of metal embellishments. I jouranled on a ticket also and put it behind the photo so my boys know the story behind the photo! The extra criteria was to use triangles somewhere on the page and I used the arrow heads for mine.

I have one more challenge to finish so stay tuned ๐Ÿ™‚

“Must Be Love!”

I love scrapping about our family and what special things and events we do together, but I also like scrap about our ‘fur family’. They are a bit part of our lives and I want to tell their story too.As I have had a couple of days of work, I have been making the most of them and in between other jobs I have managed to get a few photos scrapped. I love joining in challenges that get me a bit our of my comfort zone, but sometimes I just like to scrap for no reason but just to enjoy the process.003This is one of those layouts and I am very happy with the outcome. I find that if I just do it and not fiddle and ‘think’ too much I get layouts done much easier. I used the colour of the curtains in the photo as my palette and then went from there. I masked the mini Heidi Swapp mask and added the thickers to make my title. I double matted the photos for a change and used a circle of twine to focus on Willo. I also sanded the photo to take away the distraction and I hid my journalling under the photo. I usedย  a gorgeous pet themed flair button and I made a couple of pin wheels for the embellishments. I finished off with a couple of pieces of washi tape grounded the layout.

Hope to get a few more layouts done this way over the weekend, when I finish work ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a great weekend!

“Aug White With 1 Challenge!”

I had this photo of Trishka and I was wondering how to scrap it and as I was looking through the challenges on some of the Australian Scrap challenge sites I found “WHITE WITH 1″was doing “Liquorice ” this month. This tied in nicely with this pic as she was sitting on the black mat and playing with a ball of twine she had pushed of my desk ๐Ÿ™‚

002This came together pretty quick as I find if I don’t fuss and just stick elements down it is easier for me. I misted the background with Dylusions ink, and adhered some paper doilies to it. I then layered some papers, tags and a film strip with some flowers and a bit of lace that I misted also. To finish off I added a couple of heart brads and a few stamped paw prints. As I added some script to it before I printed the pic I didn’t have to worry about fitting in a title.ย  The flowers, doilies tags and brads on this layout I received in a lovely RAK from Heather Waldron and I knew it was what I wanted to finally use to create my entry ๐Ÿ™‚

I really enjoyed using these colours and thanks to the DT for their inspiration ๐Ÿ™‚

“Bit Of Therapy!”

I worked last night and I had the morning shift off today which was nice for a change.ย  After a bit of a tidy up and some washingย  I decided to clean up my messy desk and then got some inspiration to do a couple more challenges @ Home and scrapped.

001This is a Step by Step I have joined in over the last week, doing a step a day as put up by Jewels. These were the last of my Spring blooms and I thought I needed to do a girly layout. There are some nice layers of paper and embellishments on this page ๐Ÿ™‚

004A bit of a closie of one of the embellie clusters I did on the top left of photo.

027This one I enjoyed doing. A challenge to use a red, green and creme colour palette. I thought I would do this photo from a drive last week Cj and I went on out to Gellibrand River which is not far from us. It is well and truly Winter in our part of Australia but it was a lovely drive. I used some pp on a green cs background and used some chipboard trees, and title which I altered with some paint and a bit of Distress Stickles.

What have you been scrapping lately? Would love to see your work ๐Ÿ™‚

“A Little Scrappy Time!”

I am working nights mainly at the moment and today is the first Sunday I have had off in about 6 weeks, so I have been making the most of it. I have the tv on the Commonwealth Games and I can listen to it while I am scrapping ๐Ÿ™‚

Yesterday in between my split shifts I created this one for a Home and Scrapped challenge to use pp strips.ย  This is a pic of me that JJ took when we were having a lovely day in Geelong. He does “Crack Me Up” lol!

010I misted my cards stock with some Dyluisons ink and then added some random strips from my scrap box to create the background.ย  It has come up quite good actually and I added a couple of smaller photos also.

Today I have been working on a Recipe Challenge on another FB group I am in. I sneaked this pic of mum playing Bingo a couple of weeks ago and it suited the challenge. I used 4 different pp and one of those is the Bingo embossed paper, and another some packaging under the left of photo, a two-word title, and use embellies to make your photo ‘pop’ and one photo.

007I used a small round frame and decorate it with flowers to make the pic pop. I swiped some Distress paint/stain over the white embossed card stock and I made the small tag on bottom right picking up the left over stain onto a white tag so I didn’t waste it ๐Ÿ™‚
