“Guys And Technology!”

Happy Saturday everyone,  I am working today and playing in my scrap space in between.  It’s a beautiful Spring day her in Aus 🙂

This is the theme for October’s challenge over @ http://scraptheboys.blogspot.com.au/

My boys have grown up with computers and game consoles and have been very lucky to have these all the time. At the moment I think they have an X-box, PS 4, mobile phones, I Pad, hand-held game consoles and computers which they play together online a lot!  This is how Jj gave me the idea for the title as they have to co-operate to play on Steam together and to achieve the goal of the game.  It is very addictive, but for them it is chill out time from school and work!

On this double 8.5×11 layout I decided to use a main photo of them checking out Cody’s I Pad when he got it and some smaller ones with some of their other devices 🙂 Unlike their mother who uses her phone for everything lol!

I wasn’t sure how to go about this one with the smaller photos, but decided to separate them and use chevrons to draw your eye to them. I masked some on the background with a white paint dauber and added a few small triangles also. I used some Tim Holtz mini film strip for the smaller photos and just some jouranling with the larger one. The chevrons seemed to get lost so I punched some with some pattern paper from the Kaisercraft Garage days 6×6 paper pad, and used some dimensional dots. I felt like it was missing something, so I used some Tim Holtz mini words here and there, with a larger title.

There is always a great challenge on over there, so hop on over and have a go!

“Boys Will Be Boys!”

As there was not much on TV last night I thought I would have a go at the Technique challenge over @ Home and Scrapped in the FB group!

The challenge is to create circles on your layout, so I used a paint dauber and a stencil with some ink through a stencil to make the background. I found this pic of JJ hanging out with Nitro so I thought I would use it 🙂 My boys love spending time with our pups and this was about 2010 and they would have been about 12 months old. They love being on the couch with you 🙂

003-002I used a few bits and pieces from a Kaiser male themed 6×6 paper pad and a couple of plain PL cards that I swiped with some paint.

Hop on over and have a go at this months great challenges.

“D-Lish Mood Board”

I watched a bit of the AFL Grand Final and very happy it stays in Victoria and that our local player, Luke Hodge won the Norm smith Medal 🙂

I wanted to have a go at the http://www.d-lishscraps.blogspot.com.au/p/current-inspiration-board-and-rules.html   September Mood Board as I loved the colour palette.

Pink Lemonade BoardI used the hearts, colours and flowers for my inspiration, but not the sketch as I wanted to have a go at challenge 3 of my Stash Busters Class. 🙂

007-001I had to use chevrons on my layout and I decided to go this way with them on the bottom of the page. I usually use them on boy layouts but thought I would try them on this girly layout. I misted some hearts on the background and used a few more of my prize pack from D-Lish to add the embellies 🙂 It didn’t take long to put together and I am happy I scraped this pic of my sister and niece.

Thanks girls for another fun challenge 🙂

“First iPod”

I love looking back sometimes and scrapping a photo/story that I have somehow missed. While culling some photo envelopes I found this photo of JJ aged 13 really engrossed in his new iPod that he got for his birthday! He loved it and I took this photo of him sitting in his chair on the floor totally lost in thought working it out. I decided to use this photo for a challenge to use tags on a page. I am still out of action and seeing my doctor tmorrow after having X-rays today.

001-001I used some PL grid cards and made them into tags and masked some different patterns on them. I layered them and added the photo with a few bits from my embellishment kit that I won from the last Delish Scraps CC. I didn’t feel up to scrapping last weekend with the girls, but thought I would have a go at this challenge.

This was a fun memory to scrap for JJ and to record for him to look back on. Time has marched on and now @ 17 he still enjoys his music on his iPhone 🙂

Happy Scrapping x

I finished the third challenge for the CC today. I found a photo that I had taken of Nitro as a pup sitting on my lap and I hadn’t scrapped it!

Tracey’s challenge is to use a white background with one other main colour, and to use the same amount of your words in title as photos you use.

003I took the teal colour in my pyjamas from the photo for the colour and I used a Dylusions ink to mask the butterflies. I added a few Kaiser collectables layered and some misted paper ones to embellish with. I stamped the title onto some water-colour paper that I soaked up the extra ink with off my non stick mat.

I wanted the layout to have a dreamy feel about it as it is such a cute photo of Nitro and I am glad I documented it for my boys.

“Cyber Crop Weekend!”

This weekend is the http://mysticalscrapbooks.blogspot.com.au/  cyber crop and I have decided to join is as I am a bit house bound with my sore bits. I am feeling better today, and taking my meds.

The first challenge, set by Jane, is to use Kraft card stock, with one other main colour and flowers!  Mine is a bit pink, but I am happy with it. I masked the Kaisercraft doily mask with pink paint, added some strips of wahsi tape to ground the photo, a spray of flowers with a couple of skeleton leaves for a bit of texture, a few ink splats and a few buttons and bling scattered on page. This is a pic of some of my many roses I have in my garden and I love giving them away and having them inside 🙂

The second challenge I attempted was Dale’s challenge to use black as my background, one other main colour, and use patterns/shapes.

011I used a Prima mask with white paint and texture paste for my pattern, and a chevron for a shape as an arrow. For a bit of texture I used a few strips of dry wall tape under the photo and then I added a couple of embellies in the corner with a tag, telling the story about the 100-year-old walnut tree that is in the back yard of our family home in Church Street. I took this photo before the house sold 😦

There is one more challenge to go and that is on my to do list for tmorrow!

Have a great night 🙂

“Life Lesson!”

There are lots of things my parents have taught me and guided me on throughout my life. How to look after ourselves and do the thankless jobs like washing, vacuuming, dusting and cooking etc have been a few of them. When my sister and I were at home mum would have a Roster system, which I hated, but it taught us responsibility and life lessons.

One of the most important lessons I feel is important for my boys, is how to look after themselves after they leave home. With Cody already living out of home and being independent, I can see the things that I have instilled in him coming out.  My boys have always done their own washing from their middle teens and have always helped me with house hold jobs. This has taught them how to do these jobs, to look after themselves and they know they have helped me too.

Cooking proper meals is very important and it has always been fun in our household. From when they were little helping Gran cook cakes and their fave treats, and then to me teaching them basic recipes so they can feed themselves healthily. Even now when Cj comes around for dinner once a week, both of my boys still like helping me as you can see in these pics of my boys when we were having a Home made Pizza night 🙂

This month ‘Domesticated’ was the challenge over @ http://scraptheboys.blogspot.com.au/  and of course I had to do a layout.

007I wanted to document that my boys have learnt how to deal with ‘life’ after home and that they still enjoy cooking with me.  It is great to see my boys happy, healthy, strong and independent, which is what I want for them 🙂

For this one I misted a stencil and used ink through one. Then I used some PL cards and layered with some photos. To add a bit of interest I added a bit of washi tape and some stitching.

Hop on over and have a go at this fun challenge before the end of the month.

“Sept Sketch Challenge!”

Hi everyone, what a mixed up week I am having.

Monday I had a little mishap and had a fall. Thought I was ok but got worse. Doc today, some anti inflams, an x-ray Mon as a precaution and off work till next Wed till I see my doc again on Tuesday. On top of this I was recalled for another Breast Screen and Ultrasound on Wed. A bit more drama to add to my week but happy to say all is well 🙂 I can’t do alot so my walking is out the door this week and a few other things I had planned, but oh well will be there next week 🙂

I am a bit bored as usually this is my busy week at work, so to occupy myself today I thought I would have a scrap and create a page for the Sketch over at Home and Scrapped on FB 🙂

I found this one of mum from a few years ago and I love it, as she is in her flower garden which was her heaven. I know she misses it heaps and I love taking her out into the garden at Mercy and I always take her heaps of roses from my garden though the season 🙂

SketchThis is Heather’s lovely sketch in a 12×12 format. I just changed mine to suit my scraping style and I used one photo instead of three. Sketches are a great way to get inspiration for your work and you can adapt them anyway you like 🙂

005As you can see I created my 8.5×11 layout using her design, but my style. I used the sketch as my base and added to it.

There is lots of inspiration on the web for you to try different sketches and I get lost on http://www.pinterest.com/

“Scrap De-stash!”

As I have sorted out all my stamps, inks etc into my Rasgok I thought I would do a bit more sorting and purging of my scrap stash. If you are like me you ‘collect’ things, and don’t end up using them. This might be due to the fact that it isn’t trendy any more or like me my scrapping style has changed.

I found quite a few things that had been sitting in boxes for ages and I decided to ‘let go’ of them and donate them to my nieces after hour’s school care group. I am glad that the kids will have lots of fun making things out of my unwanted goodies 🙂

I now have less containers with useless stuff in them everywhere, I know now where things are that I couldn’t find which frustrates me to no end and wastes my precious scrapping time and I found a few things that I now have out and will use. So it has been ‘win win’ really 🙂

010My scrap space is in our dining room and this pic I took from the kitchen. I have managed to get both my shelf units on my big corner desk and I can use the wooden one which now has given me more creating space. My Raskog right next to me and my Ebosser set up near the window ready to use also. 🙂

013I really wanted to make better use of this large table and decided to use it for storage. I have alot of my punches now on the white unit, but still a bit of room for some other goodies also.  My other bookcase now has my card stock, my 6×6 papers on the bottom and other things like my washi tape etc that I use heaps.  Underneath I am able to store my draws, a paper holder and my set of three drawers 🙂 To the left of this table in front of the window I have my Ebosser set up on a kitchen trolley also so I can move it if I want 🙂

014Using this table now is much better as it has heaps of room and I have my Canon Selphy on the left for printing my photos and my tool tray with my most used goodies like my ATG gun, scissors etc. I have my SU cutter, my cordless light and self-healing mat 🙂  I have embellishments in one of the holders on the wall and I am sorting out some more to use in the other. 🙂

My Raskog is on the right next to my desk and room for another next to it. I can move them around as I am using them and I have freed up a heap of space for myself. My little white desk is behind me and it will have my Colcraft Paper storage unit back on it when I move my ink sprays etc onto my next cart later in the week 🙂

Hope I might have inspired you to have look through your stash and see what you might be able to donate or organize better so you are more productive.

“My Raskog Cart!”

Have you seen or heard about these cool little kitchen carts you can purchase from IKEA! They can be used in any room to store anything and I already want another for my kitchen and bathroom 🙂 My closest one is in Melbourne and we are lucky to have a great delivery service here that goes down there Tuesdays, fills your order and delivers to your door 🙂 I don’t go to Melbourne alot and I have no idea how to get out to Richmond.

I got my first teal Raskog and it is awesome. They are very easy to put together and they are also very strong.

cart I have used my first one for all my stamps in the top-tier. They are on laminated sheets which have been stamped and labeled with the images and then into plastic sleeves to keep the dust of them 🙂 I have divided them into themes to make finding them easier also 🙂

001The second shelf I have all my Distress, Stazon and SU ink pads, daubers, cleaners, and water-colour paper.

The third shelf has my odds and ends of loose wooden stamps, ink pad refills and Distress Ink Sprays.

I am very happy with it and I am planning get one more to store all my mists etc so I can use my white table for my paper storage and get my paper kits out of a box and used 🙂
