“Monogram Challenge!”

I haven’t scrapped for a bit, since making some cards as I haven’t been real well. Felt like having a scrap today and trying Angie’s Challenge on our FB group!  We had to make a monogram and include it on our layout! I couldn’t resist doing this photo of Nitro 🙂

003I ‘grunged it up’ by creating the background with some stamping, distress stains, and layering of elements of pp, journaling bits and pieces, stickers and some transparency.

002    This is a close up so you can see what I did 🙂  Firstly, I swiped texture paste over the cardboard, then I pulled the muslin apart so it frayed a bit and stuck it into the paste, after spraying it with dylusions ink . The flare button is from D-Lish Scraps and I added the thickers on top to create his name 🙂

There is plenty of time to join in this challenge if you like as it was posted mid month 🙂

“Xmas In July”

As you know from my previous post I was making cards for a challenge yesterday. I wanted to share with you the others I made also, so thought I would pop them in here. I did a few different ideas and really just ‘played’ with my bits and bobs. Sorry, a few photos!

005These were quick ones as I used some stickers from a kit and whipped them up 🙂

006    These were also from the kit on vanilla cs and a bit of faux stitching!

007I made the pp for the banner using Distress Daubers instead of the splats that were created using the Stains.

008I really enjoyed playing with my Ebosser and getting some lovely backgrounds made with it 🙂 These are both SU folders.

009                                   Another couple similar but different!

010Not sure what I was doing here? Added some transparency to one and stamped the other. Cut the embossed paper with the hexie punch.

011012These four were nice and easy, made on the cream cs using the stickers and stitching also.

Well. I hope you may have got some ideas to create some quick Xmas cards for your stash or to use on other themed cards 🙂

Enjoy and Happy Card Making x

“Are You A Card Maker!”

I used to love making cards when I first joined Stampin’ Up! and I taught classes, sold them in local businesses and made them for friends and family.  I am a scrapper at heart and that is what I wanted to do so the card making went to the side for a while. I have made a few here and there and also made 50 Xmas cards to send to our troops overseas in 2012.

I am still not 100% at the moment and didn’t feel like scrapping yesterday but wanted to do something with my paper and glue. Heather set a Xmas Card Challenge over on the Home and Scrapped FB group and I thought I would do this. I made two for the Emboss Challenge, Two for the Modern and bright challenge and two for a Male Themed Xmas card.  I was having so much fun with my Ebosser and stamps that I ended up making about 25.  That is a great start considering I had no mojo last year and made none.

003These were fun to do using an Emboss folder and some vanilla card stock. I used my Framelit dies to layer on the first one and made some small flowers and leaves on the second for some I used a bit of Fired Brick and Mowed Lawn Distress inks to highlight the layers.

004For my Funky/ Modern colours I misted some white card stock with two Dylusions inks and then used it to cut out some Hexagons with a punch and added them to an embossed background.

001Male themed cards are always a bit of a challenge for me. I came up with this simple one on the right and I used my Distress Stains to make the ink splats and create the banner on the left one 🙂

I really enjoyed making these and I will put the other I have made in a separate post!

Hope these give you some ideas and get you making some cards too.

“Meeting Stacey!”

I went to Ballarat in June for a break and my sis and I had to visit their Kaisercraft store. As we were looking around I thought I recognized the familiar face at the counter, but I wasn’t sure. The lady said “is that you Kerri”.  Omg!  It was wonderful to finally meet Stacey IRL after being friends on Face book with her for quite a while 🙂

I decided to sneak this layout in for the CC this avo and I used Alison’s flower challenge as the base of my page. I had to use at least 5 different flowers and I think I managed that quite easily!

004I used some ledger paper and masked it with a Prima mask, then added a few bits of paper doily, lace and some flowers and Flair buttons 🙂 I used some gardenia and tiny roses from D-lish and then 3 other different flowers to fill the requirement of the challenge. I also added the butterfly Flairs, date tab and journal tag on the bottom right which are also from the lovely D-lish shop 🙂

I am really happy with this layout and as it is bulky with the flowers I am thinking about putting it onto a canvas. I have a few more to do, but as time permits I will get them done 🙂

“D-lish CC Bingo Challenge!”

I was on a roll today and got this one done too for the D-lish Scraps CC. You had to pick a row and add the items on the list to your layout. I chose the first row down 🙂 Journaling, Paint , Hearts, Stitching and Wood Veneer 🙂

Challenge 6

005-007  Yep, another boy one 🙂  JJ and Trishka having some time out together.

I hid my jouranling on a stamped tag behind the photo, I brushed some paint on my Kraft card stock and some darker around the edges and I used a die cut and a wood veneer heart. I love hand stitching on my layouts and I added the three hearts.  The arrow and small hexies are also wood veneer. If you aren’t sure wood veneer is quite light and not as heavy as chip board. I am really enjoying scrapping my smaller size again 🙂

I have really enjoyed doing these couple of challenges and hope to do the rest when I get time 🙂  Thanks to Amanda and her awesome DT for the time and effort it requires to create an event like this 🙂

“Getting Messy!”

I love getting into my paint and gesso and having a play and this layout was created doing just that. I have been trying all week to join in the fun at http://www.d-lishscraps.blogspot.com.au/p/blog-page.html   but my life has just got int the way.  This week is my really busy one with work and I have been a little under the weather the last few days!  But. such is life 🙂

I decided to have a go at Karyn’s challenge which is this one –

Challenge 8I used the fun water-colour paint technique and created this one of my boys 🙂

005-006I cut the journal cards and Polaroid frame with my Ebosser and then added a bit of texture with some muslin and dry wall tape.  The journaling says ” I can see you two getting closer as brothers and mates each time your are together”  I love it that my boys share their lives closely and I feel they always will.  🙂

I am hoping to get one more of the 8 fantastic challenges done today in between my work shifts 🙂 Hop on over and get some great inspiration from the DT 🙂

“Build A Page!”

Hi there,

Sorry I have been MIA but I have been very busy work wise and a couple of days feeling a bit under the weather!  I put my name down to do a days step on our Home and Scrapped BAP this month and it was so much fun seeing the page come together over the seven days, and seeing the different results using the same steps 🙂 My step was Wednesday and I added the title/ jouranling to the page in a way that suited the theme of the photos.

001Another 8.5 x 11 page but this time in the landscape format.  Lots of layers and textures on this page and the girls really tried some new techniques for this 🙂  I made my photos smaller as to fit this size layout and I did it by printing directly from my Samsung Galaxy Note phone to my Canon Selphy printer, using an app called a Beautiful Mess. I used a quote that says “It’s not the Destination, but the Journey that Counts”. I thought it suited these photos of my boys spending precious time together. It double as my title and journaling.

Hop on over to Face Book and join our lovely group and have a go at our BAP and the other great challenges that are going on at the moment.
