“I Miss U!”

Sam, our tabby cat who would have been 10 this year, has been missing since NY night and I wonder often where he might be, or did he go off to die as I feel he did!.  He had a severe head injury about 5 years ago and I think he never completely recovered from it 😦 We have Trishka, who is my boy’s kitty and she is wonderful, but I miss seeing Sam around 😦

I created this layout to remember him always near me when I was scraping, and he used to sit wherever he wanted to 🙂

I did a bit of a background with a chevron mask and a clock mask with some paint!  I cut a film die with my Big shot, and embossed some card stock with a chevron folder! I made a list of the things that I miss about him 🙂 It is really hard losing a pet as they are part of your family 😦

“Savvy CC!”

The Scrapbook Savvy Cyber Crop is on again at the moment and I joined in with the Blind Scrap last night! It was so much fun and I created another layout with Sarah’s great instructions 🙂  I had this photo of Willo and thought I would use it 🙂

                              She is such a cutie and she is too spoilt!!

I used some Basic Grey papers which are my fave manufacturer and a few bits and pieces from my stash!  I think the title says it all 🙂 A simple design that didn’t take to do.   Thanks for the fun girls 🙂

“March Scrap The Girls!”

I had fun playing with these couple of photos of Alison and I being big kids at our family Xmas Day last year! Not sure what our kids thought of us climbing up onto the slide, but we had fun!  As it turned out it suited the criteria of http://scrap-the-girls.blogspot.com.au/ so I thought I would enter it!  To use a doily/ and or heart 🙂  I misted a doily and put it under right hand side of photos 🙂

I used a Mistables background and just sprayed it with a few Dylusioins inks that matched the pics. Added a bit of texture and with the doily and some netting under the photo and large  title! A bit of washi tape to ground the photo and not  much else 🙂   I wanted it to have a fun feel to it!  I have this weekend off so hope to get my ‘Scrap On’

“Made From Scraps!”

I joined in Heather’s Step by Step over at Home and Scrapped and used my scraps to make this layout of Cody and Willo!  Three, 12 x 3″ strips covered in scraps 🙂

As it was pretty busy, I didn’t embellish too much! A bit of faux stitching, and a Polaroid frame and a few brads.

Today, I have had a day off so decided to have a bit more of a play in my mess 🙂  I created this one of the boys shopping and used some of the left over bits from the top layout! Great to get a few of those paper scraps used!!

I am working tmorrow night then Thurs and Fri morning. I then have the weekend off. I hope to join in Scrapbook Savvy’s March Cyber crop and get a few more layouts done 🙂

“Just For Fun Scrapping!”

I have been having a scrap in between work and life this week! I think this is what I need to do. Not set aside time during the week, but just make a mess and play when I can!  I am finding this fun, even though I have a ‘little’ mess on my desk lol!!  I have created two layouts in the last two days and that is pretty good considering I haven’t achieved much lately!!

A lovely lady that I know; Renee Iverson, who is a remarkable scrapper and DT herself. thinks my scrapping is lovely and she has encouraged me too submit some of my work to Scrapbook Creations Magazine 🙂 Thank you Renee for your encouragement and for pushing me to do this 🙂 x

• This one is a layout about my son Cody and my niece Crystal who both turned 21 last year. They were born six weeks apart as Cj was 8 weeks early!  These photos we took when visiting mum and dad for his birthday, about this time last year.  I wanted it to have a warm feeling about it and keep to those tones.  The orange background was a little bright so to fix this I just used some white paint to tone it down. I layered some pp, a bit of distressing, stamping, a few embellies and that was enough I felt. The little blue flowers are the ones I was making with my moulds and I coloured them with an ink marker.
• This fur ball is Trishka and she gets into lots of mischief. I really miss Sam and in some ways she is like him 🙂 She has decided that sitting where ever she can to annoy me is fun and going in and out a million times a day is fun too 🙂 I haven’t used a sketch or a challenge for either of these layouts. I just started and decided to see where it would take me 🙂 I made some background paper, added some texture and a few embellies for this page. I don’t spend a lot of time on my layouts as I feel this is unproductive and the idea is of course to get photos scrapped!!!!
• A few of you have seen my work on FB and have said that my style has evolved. Looking back I think you are right and I am ‘developing’ a style. I never really thought I had one 🙂

“March Scrap The Boys!”

I am really enjoying the monthly challenges over at http://www.scraptheboys.blogspot.com.au/  This month is a colour challenge to use Blue, Green and Yellow.

This a bit of a challenge for me as I don’t use bright colours a lot. I found a photo from when we went to Phillip Island last year when Cody competed in the Spartan Race and I thought this would be a good photo to scrap with this colour combination. He completed the grueling course and I am so proud of him! He really enjoyed the experience and went outside his comfort zone! He put a lot of time into getting fit for this event and he still does 🙂

I used Dylsuions ink and water to create the background, added some stamping, making, washi tape and some gauze that I sprayed to colour also. I didn’t want to much in the way of embellishment, so I just created a few chevron arrows to focus on the photo! The title is just a mix of some Thickers. I even managed to do the design my self and not use a sketch 🙂

“A Little Win!”

I have been really busy with work and my son has been sick, so not a lot of scrapping going on at the moment. Hope to later this week with a couple of days off 🙂

I received a nice surprise in the mail yesterday! I won the RAK for the Feb Design challenge over at http://homeandscrapped.ning.com/ the layout was my circle layout with my selfie pics 🙂

“Home Made Embellies!”

As my OLW is “THRIFTY” this year, I am trying to use my stash as much as I can and also make my own scrapbook embellishments where possible instead of buying them! That sounds easy, but sometimes when you can’t find that one thing that would finish your project off it can be very frustrating!

I love making paper and fabric flowers, banners, tags, ATC’s, rosettes, pinwheels, and  hand sewing anything that will enhance my projects and add a bit of a homey feeling to them.

At the moment, resin flowers are all the rage, but they can b a little expensive. I decided on buying the Stampin’ Up! clay and moulds and have a go at making my own. This way I can make flowers and buttons to match my projects without the stress 🙂

These are very light and the clay is easy to work with and dries very quick. I can paint, stain or mist them in the colours I want to match my projects and they are not too heavy. They are also flat on the back so attaching these to your cards or layouts a lot easier 🙂 I also found by letting them dry in the mould for a while they are much easier to take out and you don’t squash them!

I misted two small buttons on the layout I did in the previous post and they are so cute! I used dylusions ink on them, and the coloured lovely 🙂 I have another different type of mould and I am gong to try the clay in this also.

I don’t recommend using distress stains to colour them with before putting into the moulds as it is a little wet! Maybe a bit of cornflour dusted in them to stop from sticking, I am quite happy just to colour mine when they are dry 🙂

I hope you have a go at making your own embellies and maybe give these a go sometime 🙂

“Scrap Apples March Challenge!”

I created this one yesterday using a few pics of Cody and his motorbikes for a sketch challenge in the Scrap Apples group I am in on Face Book 🙂

                     This is the sketch I used to create the layout below!

I like getting a few photos on a page and these photos were a bit larger than in the sketch, but I played around with it and you get the general idea! A sketch is only a guide and you use as much of it as you need for your inspiration!

I wanted to tell the story of Cody getting his first motorbike which was the top one, then as he was having a few I used a bit of paint, metal embellishments, washi tape and a bit of doodling 🙂

How are you going with your scraping this yr? I am not doing as much as last with working now, but enjoying it even so 🙂

“Catching up on 365!”

Today is the first day of Autumn here is Australia, my favourite month as the days are sunny and the nights are cooler. I think we are getting a couple of warm days this week, but not the 40 degrees we have had over the last few months! I know I should have been out in my garden today, but that is tomorrows job!  I wanted to print and scrap the rest of Febs daily pics and now I am up to date 🙂 I have had a few day shifts this week, which after nights mucks the body clock up a bit, but will have to get used to it as have a mixture of hours this next fortnight 🙂

JJ is feeling much better after 4 weeks off school with a viral infection and finally given antibiotics, after blood tests showed a virus, and they have made a big difference. Now he has to catch up with his subjects, but with a few free periods at school he will  🙂

These aren’t probably really interesting for all of you to see and read, but for me they are our daily life.  Continue reading if you dare 🙂

8th – Cody came over for dinner and the pups go mad when they see him.

9th- My new Art Jornaling books came from Book Depository 🙂

10th- Nitro making himself comfortable on me, as he usually does.

11th- My KA Unit made by Colin Cadd,  all set up and tidied!

12th- Trishka watching me use my Selphy and trying to grab the photo as it was going in and out!

13th- Blue washi tape was the order of this photo

14th- Valentine’s Day and I just drew a heart 🙂 Not much romance here lol!

15th- I am reading the Notebook, as I have seen the movie. Such a lovely story 🙂

16th- JJ and I have been watching Major Crimes on dvd. It is the follow on from The Closer, which my boys and I watched all of the Seasons together 🙂

17th- I used my bird clock to feature the time of the day I took this pic.

18th- The first yummy nectarines that I picked of our massive tree in our back yard. It will have to be pruned in June 🙂

19th- One of my many jobs for my client as a PCA is to do things around the home that she can’t do 🙂 I hate ironing, but not when I know I am helping keep my client in her home 🙂

20th- This kitty kept sitting on my laptop! grrr!

21st- Alison and I went to the Paper and Craft Show in Melbourne at the Exhibition Building. It was a great day 🙂

22nd- Some new scrap storage jars I bought for some of my small embellies, like buttons etc.

23rd- A couple of ATC’s I finished for some swaps.

24th- My Summer sandals.

25th- My bathroom cabinet under the basin. Not the tidiest, but better than it was lol!

26th- Nitro misses me when I do a few sleep overs and he wasnt letting me go anywhere 🙂

27th- Something I was going to eat. I love Royal Gala apples.

28th- Last day of Summer, I made this yummy ice-cream for dessert 🙂
